Eric DeBergh, Director

Eric DeBergh

Fortunate to grow up in New York state 45 minutes from the Gunks, Eric's first exposure to rock climbing came early.  His passion for climbing grew in high school, and solidified in college when he semi-consciously chose the career path of mountain guide over math teacher.  Eric has been climbing across the US and internationally for the past 14 years, and has 10 years of professional experience as an climbing instructor and guide on rock, indoor walls, ice, and mountaineering in classic climbing destinations from New Hampshire to Washington state.

He is an AMGA Certified Rock Instructor, Program Director of the SPI and CWI programs, completed the Alpine Guides Course, is a Leave No Trace Trainer, and maintains WFR certification and a NYSDEC rock and ice guide license.

Eric started Certified Climbing Instructor to help climbing programs and independent instructors to improve their services and make a viable living doing the work they love.  Email Eric for a custom solution to your organization's training needs, or visit our Schedule to find a certification program near you.
